When my husband (Brian) and I were dating years ago, Lexington, VA was one of our favorite places to escape the hectic city life of Houston, TX. This quiet, historical small town kept beckoning us back with its natural beauty and wonderful people. Once we started searching for a piece of property we could eventually retire on, Lexington was our natural first choice.
We chose a name for our property even though we hadn’t found it yet. The name was based on what our vision of the property would be – secluded, with incredible views. Thus, the hunt for “The Seclusion” began.
On one of our vacations to Lexington in 2014, we stumbled across an interesting property listed with a local realtor. When we drove up the long, winding gravel drive and reached the overlook, our first word was “wow”. The views were simply breathtaking and we knew we had found The Seclusion.
In September 2015, we moved from Houston to Lexington. After several seasons of clearing trees and brush, we were finally able to clearly see the contours of our land. Gentle slopes provided perfect areas for development. I told Brian our “little piece of heaven” is so special, I wanted to share it with people. After much discussion and planning, we decided to build a beautiful, timber frame barn venue, which could support a variety of events. This would be a way to make a significant, positive impact in our community and a way to share our incredible property with those that visit.
We are so blessed to have befriended many wonderful neighbors, and through them, found talented local craftsmen who built our dream. We hope everyone that visits The Seclusion will enjoy the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley as much as we do and take away fond memories that will last a lifetime.
With ample selections of hotels, B&B’s, and restaurants, Lexington is also an easy drive from several larger cities:

Lexington, home of Washington & Lee University and Virginia Military Institute, is in the heart of the scenic Shenandoah Valley. The natural beauty of our area is quickly establishing Lexington as a destination wedding spot.
…our elegant barn venue affords privacy, luxury amenities, and panoramic views of Virginia’s breathtaking scenery for your fairy-tale wedding or private event.
Our view of the surrounding mountain ranges was the inspiration for the meticulous design of The Seclusion. This is not a rustic barn, but a chic, luxurious escape embracing rustic elements. Inside, huge oak timbers combined with warm, creamy shiplap, hardwood floors, crystal chandeliers, and a huge stone fireplace provide a perfect setting for any type of event. In addition, our sprinkle of cozy, leather seating areas is perfect for small group conversations.
As you pass through our French doors onto the large, covered veranda, you will undoubtedly appreciate why we chose this site. With careful consideration of the nearly 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains, our landscaping has been designed to complement the natural views and create a harmonious, peaceful atmosphere.
"My wife and I got married at The Seclusion. Fairy Tale. Magical. Magnificent. Felt like Royalty. It blew our guests away. "How did you ever find this place!?" was a common question. From the chic rustic decor of the venue itself, to the spectacular scenic views across the mountains, every thought and detail Brian and Trish put into this venue come to life and it is nothing short of a masterpiece."
